Below is a video that will show you the correct steps to manually update the Nexus 7 to Android 4.4 KitKat. This will work for both the 2012 and 2013 variants of the Nexus 7, just MAKE SURE you download the correct file for your device.
You will need to make sure you have the Android SDK tools and ADB installed on your PC.
If your PC isn’t recognizing your device (DEVICE NOT FOUND), install these drivers: http://download.clockworkmod.com/test/UniversalAdbDriverSetup6.msi
NOTE: This is the exact same as if you accepted the OTA update from Google, just done manually. No data will be wiped. I am not responsible for any damage done to your device.
How to Manually Update the Nexus 7 to Android 4.4 KitKat:
MAKE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD THE CORRECT FILE:
Nexus 7 2013 WIFI ONLY Download (KRT16O)
Nexus 7 2012 WIFI ONLY Download (KRT16O)
To try out the Google Experience Launcher on your Nexus 7 download the file below. Thanks to AndroidPolice for the file.

im on trwp and i got failed on my 2012 nexus 7... yes its the wifi only when it got to 100
any chance this ROM will ever be just a straight flashable zip via recovery, like cm or aokp? tried following the method shown for the SDK install my PC doesn't respond as yours did in the how video.
I've successfully upgraded my Nexus 7 FHD to Android 4.4 with your guidance. Thanks a mil, Tim.
Greeting from Vietnam.
If I use Nova Prime on my N7, is it really worth it for me to update this before I eventually get the OTA update? From everything I've read it seems that the most significant aspects of KitKat deal with the launcher...and if I'm not using a stock launcher, it sounds like it doesn't really matter.
Anybody else on Prime with the update? Is it worth it?
just curious will this void my nexus 7's warranty ??
rooting in almost all circumstance or applying custom software in almost every circumstance voids warranty. if your concerns are about keeping the warranty I'd suggest just waiting for the ota
No, it doesn't. At least not in the U.S. It's a fallacy.
