Samsung Announces Gear S and Gear Circle Earbuds!
If you saw my other post you may have noticed that LG just officially released their new G Watch R – and now it’s Samsung’s turn for another smartwatch announcement. Just last night Samsung announced their new Tizen-powered Gear S smartwatch as well as some Gear Circle Earbuds at the same time.
This device, given Samsung’s past smartwatches, looks pretty good as you can see below – but, unfortunately, does not have a circular display. The Gear S will come with an gorgeous 2-inch curved AMOLED display (360 x 480 resolution), a returning home button, a dual-core 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, a 300mAh battery, is Tizen powered and is IP67 certified. It also comes with a handful of sensors including an accelerometer, gyrpscope, compass, heart rate monitor, barometer and ambient light/UV sensors.
Now what makes this device different is the fact that it has 3G connectivity on 900/2100 or 850/1900 bands! – as evident by the SIM card slot on the back on the device. I haven’t really looked into these smartwatches with 3G, but I wonder if you have to pay a monthly service cost for them…
No pricing was given by Samsung but they said it will be available starting in October.
At the same time, Samsung also announced the Gear Circle – a set of wireless earbuds that connect magnetically into a circle. These headphones come with a 180mAh battery along with a touch sensor and are expected to launch at the same time as the Gear S.
