Rumor: The Nexus 5 Will Be Available On Sprint

Along with renders of the device, @evleaks has been leaking a lot of information on the highly anticipated Nexus 5. This time around, he has tweeted another render of the device but also stated, “Coming to Sprint.”

This implies that the Nexus 5 will be available on Sprint. Very good news for Sprint users (like myself) considering the Nexus 4 was unavailable on Sprint’s CDMA network. According to other leaked information, the Nexus 5 will have the correct radios to support Sprint’s network.

Hopefully, if this leak is true, the Sprint variant of the Nexus 5 will be released on the same day as the international variant. It will be interesting to see if Sprint handles the release the same way they handled the Galaxy Nexus (6 months late) or if they decide to sell a variant through the Play Store.

It better be through the playstore and have sprint’s carrier support. that’s all they need to worry about. let google handle the update to their own devices like apple does for the iphones. to be perfect carriers should sale it as well but still have google handle the updates like apple does theirs for the iphone/nexus phones.

  2. Nathan Phillips says:

Holy cow…this means it could come to Verizon as well. This is good news all around, assuming one big thing – that they leave it a pure nexus and don’t break both it’s legs like they did with the Galaxy Nexus!

  3. Danny Blaney says:

Sprint was worse than verizon with the galaxy nexus so I hope they have no say in the software. The sprint galaxy nexus isn’t even part of AOSP. The verizon version is and has working LTE on 4.3. The sprint version doesn’t.
