Official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean GB27 Update on Samsung Epic 4G Touch Review

Here is a full review of the official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean GB27 Update on the Sprint Samsung Epic 4G Touch. There have been many changes since Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, so I cover some of them. I also have a video showing how to manually install the 4.1.2 Update on your device here.

Let me know what you think about the Jelly Bean update and what other neat new features it includes!

hey QBKING77 ever since I updated my Epic 4G Touch to Jelly Bean 4.1.2 GB27 my phone have been soft rebooting a lot. Do you have any idea why this happening and if there is a way I can fix this problem

    • chryxl says:

I have the same problem, but it seems related to Wifi. If I turn wifi off, then back on, the phone will reset itself twice, every time (even using different hotspots FYI). Sometimes after that second time Wifi will still be on, but it will not connect, so I’ll manually connect the hotspot I want, and then the resetting process will start over again. (UPDATE: as I type this sometimes I just get a single reset too, its random)

that’s the same problem I’m having. Do you know how to fix this problem

        • Nowhere says:

im also having this issue. Turn wifi on, connect to the network, enter info in and after a few seconds it reboots. I have not tried the micro SD removal yet but did wipe davlik and no change. I had a few random reboots but wifi will make it keep going.

    • qbking77 says:

Try wiping cache in stock recovery

      • Jonathan Olivas says:

I tried doing that but it still soft reboots when turning on and off wi-fi. Ever time I have to manually forget my wi-fi and re type my network password in.

        • I know this is a bit late, but there is a setting to let the phone “optimize” connection by remembering passwords and such. With this mode checked, the phone soft reboots after you enter your wi-fi password. Unchecking this allows the phone to work correctly.

    • Jonathan Olivas says:

can you make a video showing how to fix soft reboots on epic 4G touch after updating to jelly bean 4.1.2 GB27

after upgrading my epic 4g touch to gb27 and rooting it, i can no longer tether no matter what application i use or what settings i use. no device will connect and sometimes wont even find the hotspot. I tried rerooting the device and still did not help. uninstalled SU (the correct way) and reinstalled, useless. same for the tethering apps. HELP??

  16. JD says:

Can I install official GB27 from the sd card? I tried with the installer downloaded from Samsung but I can’t connect my phone to a computer so I couldn’t complete the install. Tried numerous cables and 4 computers. My usb data/charging port is dead. I use an external charger and just swap out batteries. I replaced the port but still can’t charge or connect via usb.

  17. Nathan Kizer says:

I usually do not pose questions, but I have become frustrated with the swype preemptive text. I used WILD FOR THE NIGHT ROM before I flashed to this Stock Rom, the custome preemptive text was outstanding, the stock rom one is less than stellar. Is there a way to get a different a program for the preemptive text?
