Logitech MX Master Review: Best Mouse I Have Ever Used!
The MX Master is the next generation in the Logitech MX series and the successor to the super popular Performance MX. Some of you might be wondering why someone would buy a mouse for $99, and the answer is simple: most of you wouldn’t. If you’re in the market for a new mouse, do a lot of work like audio or video editing and want to step up your mouse game, then the MX Master just might be worth looking into.
For $99, you might expect some premium presentation and for the most part, you get exactly that. The box has a cool fold and window that displays the MX Master without having to open the box and explains how to connect the mouse on the inside panel.
Once you crack open the box, you are greeted with a guide to your MX Master as well as a decent sized micro-usb cord to charge your mouse. After removing one last piece of plastic, you will find the MX Master mouse itself and the unifying usb receiver that allows you to quickly pair your mouse with any computer running Windows or iOS.
On the top of the mouse you have your standard left and right click buttons, a scroll wheel, and another button below that can be programmed to do various things in which I will get to in just a minute. On the very top of the mouse, you will also find your micro-usb charging port.
The left side of the device is home to some more functions and buttons such as a thumb wheel for horizontal scrolling, and forward and back button for web navigating, and a gesture button that blends into the unique design of the device.
The bottom of the device is home to your on/off button, bluetooth connect button, and one of my favorite features about this mouse, a multi-device switcher that allows you to be connected to 3 different bluetooth devices and with a simple tap of this button, you can switch between said devices. For example, if you’re like me and have a two computer setup, and want to use your mouse with both devices, all you have to do is pair them to either the 1,2 or 3 setting and then switch between each number to the corresponding device without having to pair or un-pair your computers. It’s cool.
If you want to customize your MX Master mouse experience, then download the corresponding software from Logitech’s website. This will allow you to customize each button on the mouse and do different tasks and gestures that a normal mouse simply can not do. For example, I have my gesture button to bring up my app expose and the additional button on top to bring up my mission control. This combination significantly increases my workflow and productivity. There are lots of other settings and features that the software offers and I recommend checking it out in further detail.
Now if you’re coming from any standard wireless mouse or even Apple’s Magic Mouse, you will probably be blown away by the ergonomics of this mouse and the level of comfortability it provides. It’s easily the most comfortable mouse I have ever used. If you’re upgrading from the Logitech Performance MX, it might not seem that much better. This is because aside from a few additional features, and a sleeker look, the MX Master is not that much better than the Performance MX.
Although the price is a little steep for some, this mouse is definitely worth it for those who do a lot of production work on their computers and want to increase productivity.
